Sakurai Says: No Kid Icarus Sequel

IGN has recently reported on their latest interview with Sakurai - the maker of Kid Icarus, among other popular Nintendo games - that he was saying that the next time we would see a new Kid Icarus game wouldn't be for another 25 years. This is not uncommon though, Sakurai usually doesn't make sequals for the same game in a generation so let's hope that on the next generation Nintendo handheld or Wii U we could possibly see a new Kid Icarus game, maybe with better controls. But Sakurai makes it sound unlikely:
"We pushed a lot into the game in order to let people have this short yet deep experience, but the novelty of that would likely grow thin in the next game. For now, my thought is that perhaps we'll see someone else besides me make another Kid Icarus in another 25 years"

Quote:
“No matter how much you change a game's genre and whatnot for the times, I think it's vital you never lose your respect for the original game,” he said. “With the first Kid Icarus, it's not a serious adventure - it has a more humorous bent to it, one you don't see in the original Legend of Zelda and Metroid that came out that generation. To embody that in a modern style, we made efforts not to have it seem like a run-of-the-mill battle - the story flow is really daring and unfolds in crazy ways that don't pay too much attention to the setting.”

Kid Icarus's Bad Controls? Sakurai: You're doing it wrong

There has been a lot of talk since Kid Icarus: Uprising came out on the 3DS that players were having problems with the controls being really bad. Nintendo's Masahiro Sakurai, a higher up person at Nintendo - credited for creating Kirby and Super Smash Bros had this to say to IGN:

"If a player used to touchscreen-based aiming played against someone used to right-analog control, the first player would probably dominate. The speed is on a whole different level."

"If there are players who say that it makes their hand tired, that's because you're applying too much force," Sakurai told me. "Try to relax and work on building a rhythm to your control. Place the pen in the middle of the touchscreen; when you're flicking it, take the pen off the screen as you're sweeping with it, and stop right there. That's the basic idea."

"Smash Bros. led to similar misunderstandings when it first came out," Sakurai said. "Some people, including within the company, commented that they couldn't imagine a worse game. The project was really saved by the fact that people "got" how to play it after it was released. If we had just listened to the complaints and instituted health gauges or command-based special moves, I don't think we would have invented a new style of play that way. The controls here really aren't that difficult, either, so I'm hoping that people will be able to get used to them."

Kid Icarus: Uprising AR 'Idol' Card Details

Hey there folks, Atzunew here with some newly released details about Kid Icarus: Uprising. If you have been following news on this upcoming game around the web then you would already be aware that the game comes with 6 AR cards. These cards would work with the game to bring forth a number of features.

Some new information that surfaced is that these 6 cards that consumers receive are random. Current knowledge about this fresh topic suggest over one hundred cards in the set with room for possible expansion. Nintendo has hinted that they will sponsor events where players can get together to trade and battle as well as promo cards.

Wait, you said battle? Yes. With these cars if you look at them though the 3DS camera by themselves they will appear as a 3D model. Put two cards end to end and they will battle to see whom is superior. I for one am happy to see Nintendo returning to their roots and I hope to see some sort of booster packs since these look like an awesome addition to the game.

This is all for now everyone.  I hope you enjoyed this small update on a great game and make sure to place your pre-orders to show you want it!
