Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut Coming June 26th

Now that most of us have played through Mass Effect 3 and have either been busy with multiplayer, sobbing over the ending, or completely raging over how Bioware and EA screwed up - both companies are now completing their promise of an extended cut that players will be able to enjoy on June 26th on Xbox Live, PSN, and Origin for free.

Here are some of the important points that Bioware has discussed regarding this DLC:

How large is the Extended Cut?
The Extended Cut requires roughly 1.9 gigabytes of storage.

How do I get the Extended Cut?
The Extended Cut can be downloaded from Xbox LIVE, Origin on PC, and PlayStation Network at no additional cost.

What is included in the Extended Cut?
The Extended Cut expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences. It provides more of the answers and closure that players have been asking for. It gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings.

Does the Extended Cut change the endings?
The Extended Cut is an expansion of the original endings to Mass Effect 3. It does not fundamentally change the endings, but rather it expands on the meaning of the original endings, and reveals greater detail on the impact of player decisions.

What save game should I load to play the Extended Cut?
[SPOILERS] To experience the Extended Cut, load a save game from before the attack on the Cerberus Base and play through to the end of the game. The Extended Cut endings will differ depending on choices made throughout the Mass Effect series, so multiple playthroughs with a variety of different decisions will be required to experience the variety of possibilities offered by the new content.

What do you think of this new content so far?  I'll probably just catch it on Youtube as I don't want to replay through Kai Leng and Banshee hell again. Stay tuned for more information regarding this DLC pack.

Mass Effect 3: N7 Operation Shieldwall Begins this Weekend

Hey there folks, Atzunew here with some news on the upcoming Mass Effect 3 multiplayer promotion Shieldwall. Last week we failed to earn the global goal of 3,000,000 Banshees but we should persevere and look forward to these upcoming challenges.  BioWare's continued support of the multiplayer is definitely nice to see, and every second week we are getting new, exciting challenges.

This operation has two challenges as always, a global challenge and a squad goal. Also, there is a special circumstance since we failed to complete the last global challenge. This week's global goal is to promote 50,000 characters and the squad goal is to <promote?> 3. The new special circumstance is where Banshees will apparently spawn more frequently in reaper rounds and will even spawn in other enemies' rounds.  This is BioWare's way of saying "Where is your God now?".

You will get the standard rewards for each with an increased amount of rare items within the packs as well. This promotion will go on from Friday, May 25 at 6:00PM PT until Sunday, May 27 at 5:00PM PT. I hope to see you all on so we don't fail this operation like we did last week!

Mass Effect 3: N7 Operation Silencer

Hey there readers, Atzunew here with some of the latest Mass Effect 3 multiplayer news. Today Bioware has announced the latest installment in their popular N7 Operation promotions. This weekend's event is planned to launch on Friday May 11th at 6:00 PM PST and will end on Monday, May 14 at 5:00 PM PST. This operation pits players with two challenges. An extraction in Gold will give players a Commendation Pack and if the global goal of 3,000,000 dead banshees is met then all players will get a Victory Pack.

Something that is more interesting though is a section of a sentence (seen below) that hints at possible vorcha characters in multiplayer. This will give multiplayer a nice face lift in content since vorcha would be a pretty cool race to play as. There is no official word as to whether this is hinting at what is to come or just writing fluff. Hopefully this will come with a couple of other races and classes as well as some new maps.

"The vorcha want in, and as soon as they complete combined-arms training with our technically-skilled personnel, we will let them loose."

PS3 players are now able to enjoy a N7 Operation from start to finish. There is a bug however where the screen doesn't appear but you actually do get to participate. I hope all of you can enjoy the multiplayer promotion as well as participate.

Mass Effect 3: N7 Operation Exorcist Starts Tomorrow

Last week we posted an article detailing that this latest operation in Mass Effect 3 was coming and that Bioware are shifting operations to an every other week schedule. Yesterday we got confirmation as well as more details regarding this N7 op.

In this N7 operation players will have to complete one of two objectives. If globally players achieve one million (1,000,000) Cerberus Phantom kills, all players will receive one (1) Victory Pack. If you are looking for more of a challenge then the second challenge is for you. If you and your squad survive and get extracted successfully from a gold lobby then those players will get one (1) Commendation Pack.

Congratulations go to danstu on our Reddit post who predicted what the goal was. Something I can't stress enough is that if you want to play in a gold lobby, at least have a decently leveled character as well as some experience with teamwork. I can't count how many times we have had people with low level characters holding the team back. This promotion will run from 6:00PM PST, Friday April 27th until 5:00AM PST, Monday April 30th. I hope everyone can help out with this goal in the N7 op, they are plenty of fun so don't miss out. Well, unless you play on a PS3.

Mass Effect 3: N7 Operation Exorcist

How's it hanging readers? Atzunew here back with some information regarding Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. Information has been released from BioWare regarding their popular N7 operation multiplayer promotions. We learn more through both BioWare's Blog and the official Mass Effect 3 Twitter account.

From their blog post we have learned that N7 weekends will now only come every other week.  While it's a little sad that we wont get as many operations we can assure readers that they will be better quality. What I mean by better quality is that we will not get stuck with 25% XP bonuses 3 weeks in a row and most likely more specialized operations.

Details on the specific operations are non-existent right now on what the operations will actually entail. Also, news doesn't look good for PS3 players still, since they might miss out on the N7 operations. Hopefully BioWare can bring these great operations to this neglected platform. Lastly, news will be given out on what this operation is in a week from now, so stay tuned for more information regarding this N7 operation.

Reviews for the Road: Mass Effect 3

What's up everybody? Atzunew coming to you with my long-awaited review of Mass Effect 3. This game has made both good and bad news lately and I just want to set the record strait on this game. While I will try to avoid spoilers in this review, some details have to be known for readers to understand the community's views on the game.  In this article I will cover the gameplay, the story and the multiplayer. As always we try to give readers an unbiased view of games where then you can decide if it is for you.
To start off we take a look at how the gameplay preforms. Mass Effect 3 delivers players a game that, compared to the two previous games, is focused on combat. No matter what your class players can use any and all weapons, this arguably makes the popular soldier class a bit lack luster. Bioware has added a weight mechanic that makes cool downs affected by how many or how little guns you carry.  So while your character can hold every weapon, it usually is best to only bring 1 or 2 if you want short cool down times. Next we see that the galaxy map has made a return from ME2. This is where players get to control the Normandy around solar systems and travel around clusters. You may scan planets and systems for secrets but at the cost that the reapers can gradually detect you and after awhile they will come to attack you. One of my complaints is about the controls. Most actions such as leaping, running, opening containers, and taking cover all use the same button.  So when you mean to vault over an object, you may take cover instead, it has even lead to some deaths in both the singleplayer and multiplayer modes.

With gameplay out of the way I can now focus on what the Mass effect series is about, it's plot. This game was intended to deliver us the end to Commander Shepard's story arc. It starts off only a few months or so after the events of ME2's Arrival DLC so players have not missed much action. With Shepard reaching out to so many wonderful characters this all seemed like a great big get-together of fan favorites, even characters that didn't have a large role. While there is an abundance of assignments for you to complete, the way Shepard seems to creepily tune into other conversations is a bit unnerving. Bioware seems to be aware at what fans thought was funny and what were things that we all remember, so when they made the game they made sure to include these types of things. For example, things like the Garrus' calibration jokes, to Miranda's ass and even an in-universe explanation to Conrad Verner's bug. We see that they really linked these events together and included them into ME3. This game has some of the most compelling story-telling I know of and some of the best moments. Some make you laugh, many make you cry, but some leave you with a bad taste.

Something that has really got everyone's attention was the ending, and how it left players with more questions than answers. While I will not go into specifics due to spoilers, this has fans in uproar. The ending leaves players with too many answers for a story that was to neatly tie itself up.  It eliminates the possibility of sequels in the Mass effect universe as we know it to exist. A great number of fans have turned to wanting a DLC ending to be made, while some accept this ending. Others look at it in a deeper manner, (ie. the indoctrination theory). I for one did not like the ending but I didn't go to such extremes as some did. If Bioware does create a DLC ending then I don't want them to go the route of a "happy ending" as that has never been the case with any of the previous titles. I would personally want at least two things addressed by the company in the content though if it does happen. Firstly, an answer to the plot holes - many of these are huge and some don't even make sense. Secondly I would want to have some sort of closure on my squad mates, factions and other characters, maybe something like Fallout's style of an ending recap.

Finally I can talk about the multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3. I was one of the people that thought that Bioware could not deliver an engaging and fun multiplayer experience. I was gladly proven wrong here. In this mode you and three other players can work together to survive waves of tough enemies.  Players can choose their class and out of those classes there are 4 choices to what species you want to play as.  There is a multitude of equipment that is available to players, ranging from weapons, modifications, power-ups and even xp-boosts.  Each time you complete a mission (by either completing it or failing) you earn experience points as well as credits used for buying packs. There are some problems with the multiplayer mode though, but they are not major concerns. There are times when you and your team are stuck waiting for 1 player since they do not agree to start up yet, I for one am glad there is a kick function for this reason (that needs unanimous votes to pass). Sadly if there is a player that wants to "lone wolf" it the rest of the team suffers since these players either get you killed while you try to revive them or they quit because the team is tired of holding that team member up. One last thing that I would want to point out is that if you are playing this mode, please don't go into a silver or higher lobby with your level 1 character. It makes the team suffer since you can't hold your own against the enemies, it is better to start off with a couple of bronze-level matches first.

This wraps up my review of Mass Effect 3. Overall it was a solid gameplay wise but falls short with a poor control setup. The story was wonderful as it drew inspiration from the other two games. The ending leaves players with a bad feeling but in hindsight it was only about the last 10-15 minutes. The multiplayer mode is a great addition to this series but if you don't have a co-operative team then you may fall short of victory. I would recommend this game to any who want to buy, both Mass Effect fans from Eden Prime to newcomers. I give Mass Effect 3 as solid 88/100 score. Play it now!

Pre-Load Your Copy of Mass Effect 3 Now

Hey there everyone, I just wanted to give you a quick heads up to pre-load your copies of Mass Effect 3. For those of us getting this game for PC, this greatly cuts down on the time needed to play the game on the 1st day. This way we all can get to killing the Reapers faster!

To check at what time you can start to pre-load go to Origin's schedule here. As a bonus here is the launch trailer that was released earlier today. I hope that you will all enjoy your Mass Effect experience and will feel satisfied with the conclusion to Commander Shepard's epic story!

BioWare Unboxes Mass Effect 3

Hey everyone, Atzunew here with some content directly from the horse's mouth. Yesterday BioWare officially "unboxed" one of their copies of Mass Effect 3 that is about to be launched into space. Check out the video below:
I'm very happy with how they have done this video. Also, including the covers for both male and female Shepards is very cool. I just can't wait for March 6th to come, I feel like a kid at the holidays. Are you excited for Mass Effect 3? Leave a comment below and follow use on Twitter for more news on this and more.

Mass Effect 3 to have First Day DLC

Hey there folks it seems that Bioware and EA have decided to release some day one DLC for Mass Effect 3 when it releases.  This news comes from a leak in Xbox live where the item was available for a few moments. This pack will be titled 'From Ashes' and the small amount of information also contained a short description on what the pack entailed.
Unearth lost secrets from the past and recruit the Prothean squad member in Mass Effect 3: From Ashes.
This pack is estimated to be 800 Microsoft points or about $9.99 though Origin or PSN.  This pack has also been confirmed by Bioware employee Michael Gamble.
We're happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector's Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge. We'll have a lot more details for you later this week! Stay Tuned!
As a fan of the Mass Effect series and of Bioware's other titles this comes as something I am not too fond of. Around the web I see others complaining and voicing their opinions that they dislike this DLC for what seems like a few reasons.  Firstly they dislike the fact that it is first day DLC, next they are saying that such an integral part of the series (Meeting a Prothean) should not be relegated to a DLC since it should be in the full game.

What I dislike about this one argument is that the game has not even released yet, so we are not sure if Bioware has already integrated this character. Maybe instead of the bountiful wealth of knowledge well seem to think this character has, s/he/it may have very little knowledge of their own culture and what happened when their civilization was taken out.

My personal gripe with this content is that it brought the race back, I personally liked the protheans for their mystic and the sense of unknown in their story line. With the pack it may ruin that feeling about this race. I will still get this pack regardless since I'm pumped for this game!
