Reviews for the Road: Breath of Death VII & Cthulhu Saves the World

I've never been one to play the big gaming blockbusters like Call of Duty, or even ones of other genres like Skyrim right away. While I know that I would really enjoy to play Skyrim I often just don't have the time to play games that large. This is why I often prefer to play many smaller indie games rather than a larger games made by massive companies.

Examples of these include vvvvvv and Limbo, but in this review I would like to talk about two titles from Zeboyd GamesBreath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World. Both of these games are described as retro parody RPGs. They combine classic-styled graphics with turn-based combat, and extremely funny characters and story to give an outstanding experience.

Breath of Death VII
You play as Dem, the skeleton knight in an undead inhabited post-apocalyptic world. Travel with Sara the ghost historian, Lita the vampire techie, and Erik the zombie prince as you explore an undead world in search of the secrets of the past. Customize your character's stats and learn new skills in an epic quest packed in 4-6 hours with multiple gameplay modes and difficulty levels.

Cthulhu Saves the World
Cthulhu Saves the World is very similar to Breath of Death VII in its comedy and turn-based combat, but in this author's opinion it is great to play more of the same! With an all new story, you play as the lord of insanity - Cthulhu. After losing his powers, you must become a true hero in order to regain them. This game adds updated graphics, more playable characters, and even more game modes to add to replay value and add up to a 6-10+ hour journey.

I played both of these games over a period of two days - I couldn't help but to be hooked. For only $2.99 you can purchase both games in the Steam store and it is an extremely great value. The games are both very fun to play (even for players that may not normally like turn-based combat), and laugh-out-loud hilarious throughout. Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World have made Zeboyd Games my favorite game publisher of all time. I give both games together a 90/100.
